What’s your favorite aspect of your work on the play (so far)? I love how big and crazy this production is—there is so much energy in the rehearsal room and so many different perspectives to bounce ideas off of. My process so far has been writing a bunch of music and presenting it to the design team and the cast and asking for responses and thoughts. It has been very fulfilling! What are you most excited for the audience to experience when they come to The Improbable Fall, Rise & Fall of John Law? I am most excited to see how our audiences react to the “everything but the kitchen sink” quality of the production. The music for the play, for instance, references so many different styles of music from many different eras in a really (hopefully) fun and unexpected way. I’m so interested to see how an audience will react to the specific moment in the play when the music makes the jump from 18th century Baroque to the 21st century. If you became a millionaire overnight what would you do with your newfound wealth (besides donating generously to your favorite non-profit theatre company, of course)? I hate to say it, but I would probably put it all away in the bank and continue living my life just as before, though hopefully with much, much less stress and worry. I would DEFINITELY support non-profit theatre in New York and commission artists in my community to create new work, anything to make a life in the arts possible for more people. |
