SIX QUESTIONS for Claire Kiechel

HOMETOWN: I grew up all over as a kid, but I consider New York my home town now.

FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR: Mango Sorbet

IF I WERE A SEA CREATURE I would be a beluga whale.  Obviously.

FIRST WRITING GIG: The first play I wrote was when I was 10. It took place after the world ended and God was a character. He was dressed like Santa Claus and kind of an asshole. I got in trouble with my mother and my best friend's mother banned her from my house because of it. It took me a while to write another play after that.

MOST EMBARRASSING REHEARSAL MOMENT:  Going into a quiet rehearsal room with my cell phone beeping loudly, I thought it was a fire alarm so made no motion to stop it. When I was asked about it, I responded, "It's campus wide," which became my new nickname.

FAVORITE NYC SUMMER ACTIVITY (BESIDES FRINGENYC): Going to movies when it's too hot to do anything else, Shakespeare in the Park, waking up at ten, and reading a book or play every day.
