The Dreamscape Theatre

Becoming a Part of Dreamscape’s Success

Hopefully it has become clear to you by now that The Dreamscape Theatre is a company on the move.  By the end of 2006 we plan to nearly double the number of projects under our belt while simultaneously breaking new ground for the company through our educational outreach program “Worlds of Story” and our participation in the prestigious tenth annual New York International Fringe Festival, FringeNYC.  All together, we will be producing eight individual projects in 2006, ranging from American classics like “True West” to world premieres like “Truce on Uranus” and “The Burning Cities Project.”  And we will be employing over fifty young and emerging theater artists ranging from Broadway veterans like director Sarah Gurfield to the young people of the “Worlds of Story” program, making their New York City stage debuts.

It may seem as though Dreamscape’s 2006 season has it all.  But there is one key ingredient still missing: the financial support of generous Patrons of the Arts such as yourself.  Dreamscape is a not-for-profit theatre, which means we exist primarily to serve the public.  We believe strongly that we can best do this by keeping our ticket prices low and offering as many discounted or free tickets as possible to students and other young people.  At the same time, however, we aim to keep production values high, allowing our directors and designers to create exciting visual worlds that draw audience members into the stories unfolding onstage.  In order to continue doing both of these things at once, we rely on tax-deductible contributions from members of the public who possess the generosity to support the arts and the discernment to recognize that Dreamscape is especially worthy of such support.

There are many levels of support available to those who wish to become a part of our company’s success by contributing financially.  Even though our “Founders” and “Patrons of the Arts” (the names we use to recognize our most generous supporters) routinely make donations of $1,000 or more, even a gift of $15 can go a long way toward helping our ambitious plans come to fruition. While a $1,000 check can help pay for big ticket items such as performance and rehearsal space rental or scenic, lighting or costume design elements, a check for $15 can help offset the price of a free ticket donated to a school or senior citizen center.

The real point is, Dreamscape needs your contributions, large or small, in order to keep doing the great things that it does.  Of course, there are added bonuses to becoming a Dreamscape supporter.  As always, 2006 donors are eligible for free tickets and invitations to special events, including post-performance discussions and receptions.  As an added bonus, all 2006 donors will receive a complimentary compact disc of the three original radio plays we will be recording during our Festival Season.  This offer, yet another of this year’s new features, means that as a donor you will be able to experience a Dreamscape production even if you are unable to attend one of our live performances.

It only takes a few minutes to begin or renew your support of Dreamscape, so why wait?  By making a tax-deductible gift to Dreamscape you will not only be giving us the resources we need to make our 2006 projects happen, you will be taking an active role in creating them alongside us, thereby gaining a place in Dreamscape’s ever-growing family.  Becoming a member of our family means that you will have the right to share in the pride of all our future accomplishments: every young person turned on to art and theater by our educational outreach programs, every great press notice like last year’s NYTheatre.com review of “Hamlet,” every groundbreaking achievement like “The Burning Cities Project”—you will be able to take satisfaction in the knowledge that you played a large role in making it possible.  What better reason could there possibly be to get involved with Dreamscape this year?
